THE UPDATE: Pattern, texture, color, shine - part 2

by Paul Julch in

Are you looking to add some pizazz to your look, but aren't sure how?  It's simple - be colorful!  COLOR is the easiest way to make a statement without saying a word.  You can choose one bold color as the star of your outfit, or you can experiment with combining colors for a more playful approach.  Check out the look we "COLORized" at our recent Banana Republic event.

PART 2: COLOR

STRIPE AND WHITE

Simple and utilitarian pieces are a great choice when you're running out the door.  But be sure you don't stay too subtle and miss out on a chance to show some personality.

BLUE AND YELLOW MAKE GREEN

Combining colors isn't rocket science, it just takes some practice and basic color know-how.  Here, we took a yellow silk top, added a cobalt blue belt and a green shoe.  Since yellow and blue make green, this combo is pretty straightforward.  And if you're not comfortable going for three colors in one look, you can easily pare down to two by flipping out the belt for camel leather, or by changing your shoe to a gold flat.

BLUEPRINT PRINT

If you're unsure about which colors to combine, use a print as your blueprint. For example, grab a floral top, and then choose other items that pull colors out of the floral pattern.  And don't get too caught up in matching exactly - the colors don't need to match, they just need to go together.
