Some days, you just want to wear a tie, right? Am I the only one? I think it's a function of working for years in a casual office environment, but wearing a tie tends to feel like an occasion rather than a drudge. And I'm not sure if I'd feel differently even if I had to wear one most days at work (daily suit-and-tie guys, feel free to disagree!).
A tie is a great way to dress up a casual look, even without a blazer. Knit ties are inherently more casual than woven silk ones, but they still up the ante on a simple plaid shirt/cardigan/khakis outfit.
Blue and purple is one of my favorite color combinations, and this blue bag definitely kicks it up a notch. It was handmade in Italy, and is one of those precious items that you feel priviledged to have. My partner received it as a gift, and I borrowed it for a client meeting last week.
Striped socks are one of my addictions. I have many many pairs, and yet I keep buying more.....
