We all have it – that one thing that we can’t wait to wear when the weather turns cooler. Of course, lightweight layers, sandals, tank tops, easy breezy dresses and shorts are what summer is all about – but when the temperatures begin to dip and fall is in the air, it’s time to get cozy.
This fall I’m partnering with Carol from Evolve Image Consulting – and this week, we’re sharing our fall ‘go-to’ items and why we love them.
But before you head to the stores to grab your fall ‘go-to’ item, check out a few things first:
- Check your closet – see what you already have that may work. Your old favorites might be there just waiting for you, ready for the new season. And if something needs a little repair or cleaning, get it done BEFORE the weather changes.
- Check your budget – see what money you have set aside for fall shopping and if necessary, create a budget. It’s always fun to splurge on new things, but it’s even better to have a plan and stick to it.
- Check the stores – see what’s out there, especially if you’re replacing a favorite – you’ll want to shop around a little. And also pay attention to sales – even though the calendar says that fall just started, it’s the end of the fall season for some retailers, so opportunities for good buys are around.
And if you’re wondering what our fall ‘go-to’ styles are, check them out below…..
I’m all about layers, all year round – so a versatile cardigan or casual jacket isn’t new to me when the weather changes. But what I do eagerly anticipate come fall is boot season. I love boots, and they are one of those things that just don’t make any sense in warm weather.
A lace-up boot is a super versatile piece: wear it casually with jeans and turn up the cuffs to show it’s a boot, or wear it to the office with dress pants and it looks like a shoe. There are so many choices out there that you can actually have a boot wardrobe, and save the shoes for spring.
Carol loves fall, and her fall 'go-to' pieces. She recently went to Paris and wore this great look. "I started with a beautiful scarf and pulled a color from it to build my wardrobe for the day. Scarves are both functional and decorative, and I saw every woman in Paris wearing one. Boots were another common sighting. Whether you choose a traditional riding boot or an on trend bootie, they too are functional and extremely stylish. Finally, the fall is the perfect time for a leather or faux leather jacket."
If you're sufficiently inspired to find your fall 'go-to', don't forget: check your closet first, create a budget if needed, and shop around. What's your fall 'go-to'?
