Five minutes until I'm supposed to leave to meet a client, and I find myself still wearing shorts, sitting at the computer. Why didn't I get dressed a half hour ago before I started reading emails?
If you're someone who runs late on occasion (or often), it's always good to have some standby outfits that you can throw on without thinking. For me, one of those standbys is a gingham shirt and matching sweater.
The reason that this is one of my easy, no-brainer outfits is that I don't have to worry about matching. I know that the shirt goes with the sweater that goes with the neutral pants that go with the brown shoes. Using a tight color palette may seem a little "matchy-matchy", but it also makes a focused statement. But it is just coincidence that my green notebook matched the outfit as well.
The only thought I really put into this outfit was the socks - and since blue and green make teal, it wasn't a hard choice.
